Colonial Williamsburg is Open on a Limited Scale

As the state gradually reopens for business, phase two signals the reopening of important sites in the Historic Triangle. The world’s largest living history museum has opened to the public— yes, that’s right, Colonial Williamsburg is open on a limited scale.

Each of the following sites has reopened in accordance with site-specific safety protocols required by the state:

The Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg

Governor’s Palace

Capitol

Courthouse

Weaver trade shop

Outdoor sites will also reopen to guests, including Carpenter’s Yard, Randolph Yard, Colonial Garden, Magazine Yard, Armoury Yard, Brickyard, Wythe Yard, Custis Square (including tours), and retail location Market Square.

As excited as the staff at Colonial Williamsburg is to welcome back the guests it misses so much, you may find this to be a different experience than before. Safety measures will be taken seriously, and you will be asked to work with staff to protect everyone’s health and safety.

  1. Under Virginia’s rules for phase two, group sizes are limited, indoors and out.
  2. Everyone is urged to practice appropriate social distancing and will be required to wear face coverings while inside. The wearing of face masks is encouraged outdoors but is not required. Affordably priced face coverings will be available for guests to purchase in all Colonial Williamsburg retail outlets.
  3. Most programming has been moved outdoors.
  4. Most doors, faucets, and other high-traffic touchpoints have been made touchless.
  5. Enhanced cleaning protocols are in effect across all open locations.
  6. Weekend outdoor dining will continue at Chowning’s Tavern.
  7. Until further notice, all ticketing will be digital to limite face-to-face contact. Tickets can be purchased online and redeemed via cellular device.
  8. To reflect necessarily limited offerings, the single-day general admission price will be dropped to $19.99 and $10.99 for youth. Reduced ticket prices are available online only

As business demand returns, more dining and hospitality properties are anticipated to reopen, as well.

More than ever, everyone’s understanding and support are appreciated during this time! Every decision made and precaution put in place has been done with the goal to keep everyone safe so they can enjoy life together once again!
