Dads are most ordinary men turned by love into heroes, adventurers, storytellers and singers of song.

When you get Mother’s Day just right, it’s important to follow it up with a day that’s dedicated to dear old Dad. Father’s Day is on Sunday, June 18, so we’ve rounded up some ideas for you to start planning an unforgettable weekend with the guy who teaches you all those important life lessons, from how to be brave on your first roller coaster ride to how to change the oil in your car.
If Dad loves a good adrenaline rush, Busch Gardens could be the perfect adventure for him. Bond over fast roller coasters and tasty funnel cakes, and be sure to check out InvadR, the park’s newest wooden coaster!
You can never go wrong with a round of golf. The award-winning Kiskiack Golf Club boasts an 18-hole course winding through mature hardwoods over natural, rolling hills. Even if you don’t play your best, you can always look forward to a satisfying lunch at the Wood Iron Grill! Here’s a blog [insert golf blog] about some of Williamsburg’s other beautiful courses.
If your pop is a movie buff, there are a ton of great films playing at the Kimball Theatre throughout the month of June, including classics like Singin’ in the Rain and To Kill A Mockingbird. Movie tickets are just $8.50 for adults and $7 for seniors, students and children.
Is Dad an outdoor kind of guy? He’ll fall in love with this epic, wind-in-your-face outdoor facility with opportunities for outdoor adventure that go way beyond zip lining. A treetop adventure includes a breathtaking zip line ride, the Tarzan swing and a walk across the rail track. Be sure to book your family session in advance!
Can’t go wrong here if Dad appreciates American history! Stroll the streets of Merchant Square and be amongst street fairs, farmers markets, theatrical events, seasonal celebrations, quaint shops and delicious fare.
Let Dad geek out over awesome flight exhibits at the Virginia Air and Space Center. Spend the day checking out interactive STEM exhibits spanning 100 years of flight, over 30 historic aircrafts, a hands-on space gallery, unique space flight artifacts and more!
The activities department at King’s Creek Plantation is honoring Father’s Day, too! The weekend of June 16, we’ll be hosting an arts & crafts project for families to enjoy. One craft item per child will be provided free of charge. Stay Sunday for movie night to watch Courageous, a 2011 independent Christian drama about family and faith.
Don’t forget about King’s Creek’s other amazing summer perks! Your Father’s Day can always be spent lounging by one of our pools or gathering the whole family together for a game
