Five Fun Things For Kids (and Grown-Up Kids) to Do at King’s Creek

Ah, summer in Williamsburg, Virginia. The air is hot, the water is cool, and the kids are ready to have some fun. Besides all the wonderful things to see and do in Colonial Williamsburg and Historic Jamestown and Yorktown, King’s Creek Resort is another perfect place for your kiddos to have the best summer of their lives.

Here are five things kids and the young-at-heart love to do around the resort!

  1. The Pools

We all know it: There’s simply nothing better to a kid than a long summer day by the pool. Watch yours gleefully cannonball into one of our three gorgeous outdoor pools to the sound of upbeat summer tunes.

Besides features like brand new patio furniture, kiddie pools, hot tubs and snack bar Shorty’s at the Creek at the Estates pool, kids will be perfectly content spending hours doing what they do best—creating cherished family memories through play.

  2. The Playground

Kids can find play areas throughout the Cottages, Townes and Estates grounds at King’s Creek, and our biggest playground also has eighteen holes of mini-golf (where parents are definitely invited to play a round)! Put, swing, slide, climb, jump, and run to your heart’s content on this beautiful kid’s heaven, located right across from our Aquatic Center.

  3. The Courts

Our state-of-the-art tennis and basketball courts draw fun enthusiasts of all ages. Sign out equipment from the Activities Center or bring your own from home and have a friendly little competition! Just don’t be surprised if you wind up spending most of the day here!

  4. The Activities Center

Located at the back of the Clubhouse by the swimming pool is our newly refurbished Activities Center! Each week, an orientation for vacationers is offered that provides information about the area, plus a schedule of fun activities going on all week to entertain and create memories for kids of all ages.

The Activities Center Social Room hosts movie nights and ice cream socials, and the Arts & Crafts Room offers crafts for all ages including painting, sand art and coffee mug decorating, to name a few. The Teen Room is outfitted with an Xbox 360/Xbox Kinect, and kids can check out board games, cards, DVDs, and a variety of sports equipment to bring over to our beautiful tennis and basketball courts.

  5. Water Country USA

Okay, so Water Country USA isn’t technically on King’s Creek grounds, but Virginia’s largest family water park is just three minutes down the road! And sometimes the summer heat demands an inner tube.

If you’re specifically looking for kid-friendly rides, Water Country USA more than delivers. Check out Cow-A-Bunga, a splash zone that features a shallow heated pool, interactive water features and water slides. This is perfect if you’ve got little ones in your group who want to have fun, too!

A step up is the large children’s water playground with spray jets, waterfalls and slides, plus a sea-themed play area that boasts water slides in the shape of amazing sea creatures.

For bigger thrills, there’s always the lazy river, wave pool, and heart-pumping raft rides and attractions! Learn more about the rides at Water Country USA here.
