Celebrate Independence Day in Williamsburg

If you’re planning to be in Williamsburg for July Fourth, you couldn’t pick a more appropriate vacation spot for this American holiday. The Historic Triangle—Williamsburg, Yorktown and Jamestown—is the cornerstone of American history, not to mention a celebrated destination for families and friends looking for a place to make lifelong memories!

King’s Creek Plantation Tip: Since summer is Williamsburg’s busiest season (and July Fourth brings in more visitors than usual!), we recommend parking at the Visitor Center and utilizing the free shuttle service running every 30 minutes to regular stops.

Colonial Williamsburg

9 a.m. – 10 p.m.

Celebrate our nation’s birth on historic Duke of Gloucester Street with patriotic festivities all day long! Listen to a public reading of the Declaration of Independence on the courthouse steps at noon, enjoy musical performances and hands-on kids’ activities, and finally, witness a dazzling fireworks display at the end of the evening with the Lights of Freedom at 9 p.m. on the Palace Green. Purchase premium fireworks seating right here!

Yorktown

8 a.m. – 10 p.m.

The Yorktown Independence Day celebration is an incredible day packed from sunup to sundown with parades, food trucks, kids’ activities, historic ceremonies, and of course, a spectacular fireworks show over the York River. The best part is that you can enjoy Yorktown’s amazing beachshopsrestaurants and venerated museums in addition to all of the July Fourth events! Busch Gardens

July 3, 4 & 5

9:30 p.m.

Summer’s not complete without a healthy dose of heart-pumping rollercoasters in the world’s most beautiful theme park! Get to the park a few hours early to enjoy all it has to offer, and then settle in to enjoy the fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Park-goers can celebrate America’s independence with an impressive fireworks show and breathtaking original soundscapes that will take your breath away. Reserve your picnic or river cruise for the very best views!

King’s Creek Plantation prides itself on being a home-away-from-home that gives guests and members access to one of our country’s greatest treasures—the Historic Triangle! Whether you choose to step back in time or chase thrills this July Fourth, we wish you and your family a very happy holiday!
