Celebrate Memorial Day!

This Memorial Day, the King’s Creek Plantation Owners Association invites owners and guests to join us for a Memorial Day pool party at the Townes pool on Saturday, May 26 from 1-3 p.m. The party will feature great music, pool games for all ages, prizes and surprises and fun for the whole family!

You’re welcome to bring a cooler with all your favorite drinks and snacks—the pool grills are open! (A reminder not to bring anything in glass though: glass bottles and glassware are not permitted.) Or just rely on food service from Shorty’s @ The Creek. They’re offering FREE delivery all day!

Here are some other great options around the Historic Triangle for celebrating on Memorial Day weekend!

Yorktown

Besides enjoying warmer weather and time together, Memorial Day is really about honoring and remembering the men and women who have fought and died for our country. Yorktown has a particularly moving Memorial Day ceremony called the Fifes and Drums of Yorktown. Check out this free event at York Hall on Monday, May 28, 2018 from 11:45-12:45.

Jamestown

On Friday, May 25 at 8:30 p.m., come to Chickahominy Riverfront Park for a Movie Under the Stars event! Coco (PG) will be playing for families free – all you have to bring are lawn chairs, blankets and snacks. On Saturday, May 26 from 7-9 p.m., come back for Karaoke in the Park. All ages are welcome (children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult for both events)!

Colonial Williamsburg

Another option for honoring the men and women who died defending America’s freedom is the Memorial Day Commemorative Program in Colonial Williamsburg. From 10-12 p.m., Fifes & Drums will lead a procession to sites where veterans of the Revolutionary and Civil Wars rest. The procession will begin at the Governor’s Palace and go to Bruton Parish Church and the south lawn of the Capitol. The remembrance will offer prayers, laying of wreaths, and musket volleys to pay tribute to their sacrifice. This event is open to the public, so no ticket is required.

No matter how you choose to honor this special weekend, we hope that you enjoy it with the people you love!
