Most people associate fireworks with picnic blankets, barbecues and endless summer nights. But Williamsburg creates an equally nostalgic scene by recreating 18th-century illuminations (the firing of guns and lighting of fireworks) that celebrated major events like important birthdays and military victories. On December 3, gather in Colonial Williamsburg for this special day of live musical performances, beautiful holiday decorations throughout the historic area, and fantastic fireworks at the Capitol, the Magazine and the Palace!
When: Saturday, December 2, 8 a.m.
Cost: Free
Parades are a major staple of childhood—the floats! The marching bands! The local organizations! This year, the theme for the Williamsburg Christmas Parade is “Winter Wonderland,” and will welcome special guests Santa and Mrs. Claus! The parade starts at Richmond Road at Brooks street and heads toward Duke of Gloucester Street. Bring warm coats and a thermos of your favorite hot beverage to enjoy as you wave at the incredible floats!
