Every Tuesday beginning now and continuing throughout the summer, the Hennage Auditorium (part of The Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg) will deliver fascinating 45-minute tours that deconstruct, confirm and deny popular myths about life in the 18th century. Find out if the pineapple was used as a symbol of hospitality, or if people really were shorter 300 years ago than they are today!

Like all good stewards of the environment, we love Earth Day, and we REALLY love the Virginia Living Museum for celebrating Earth Day with special animal enrichment activities and earth-friendly animal shows, crafts, eco-friendly giveaways, and gardening displays with thousands of native plants for sale. Celebrate Mother Earth and support one of Virginia’s most unique and important museums!

Opera in Williamsburg Presents: Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro
Gloucester Street boasts one of Williamsburg’s greatest treasures – the Kimball Theatre. From regular showings of classic films to modern live shows, this theatre should definitely be a stop on your weekend itinerary. This weekend, Opera in Williamsburg takes the stage with a world-class cast for Mozart’s 1786 comic masterpiece, The Marriage of Figaro. You’ll feel like you’ve transported to an authentic Florentine opera house, since the show is in Italian (with English supertitles)!

Yorktown’s “Sister Cities French Market”
If there’s one thing this area does well other than filling your brain with knowledge is filling your mouth with some of the best food you’ve ever tasted. Yorktown’s sixth annual French Market is the perfect example. A nod to the Saturday market in Port-Vendres, France (Yorktown’s sister city, hence the name of the event), the Virginia version features all of your favorite French products, including: fresh-baked bread, pastries, chocolates, soaps, wine, and other fresh food items from 35 vendors. There’s also the “marché aux puce,” a flea market with French linens, pottery, art, French art books and cookbooks. Sounds like the perfect Saturday on the Yorktown Waterfront!

New Town Chalk & Family Fest

This is a great example of a warm-weather event that brings the whole community together! Imagine your family in New Town’s Sullivan Square for a day of fun in the form of a petting zoo, pony rides, face painting, a chalk drawing contest, games and more.

Nothing says springtime like the start of baseball season. Luckily, the College of William & Mary is the paradigm of Division I athletics and is excited to reveal a healthy lineup of athletes this year.
