Yankee Candle Flagship Store
Everyone knows someone who loves candles! One of just two in the entire county, this very special store is filled with over 400,000 candles in more than 200 different famous Yankee scents. This is the perfect time of year to visit the store’s “Holiday Park” to see Santa Claus and make your Christmas wishes!
Make A Day of It
Some shopping destinations deserve a whole day set aside to be explored. Merchants Square on Duke of Gloucester Street in Williamsburg is a scenic, brick-lined pedestrian walkway with influences of Colonial architecture. This year marks its 90th birthday, and you can celebrate by visiting any of its 40 shops and restaurants! Find Colonial-inspired souvenirs, quaint candy stores, men’s and women’s fashion, fine jewelry stores, unique local art, charming bookstores, and more. When you need a shopping break, you can’t go wrong with any of its delicious dining spots! (We have big heart eyes for the Cheese Shop and the Fat Canary especially!)
Merchants Square is also the site of tons of fun events each week, including a farmers market, live music, plus annual traditions like the Christmas tree lighting and ice skating. Click here to see holiday happenings you can coincide with your shopping day!
Yorktown’s Riverwalk Landing
This is a truly spectacular waterfront village, and one of the Historic Triangle’s most lovely visual treasures. Located along the banks of the York River, this square mile of shopping and dining paradise boasts specialty shops, museums, art galleries and a wide variety of restaurants that cater to every palate. If you’re coming to shop for the day, you can expect home décor, custom jewelry, rare books, beach supplies and other unique items. If you’re coming for the food, there is no better place to score savory scallops and softshell crabs! Other than its terrific seafood, you can find brick oven pizzas, gourmet burgers and dozens of locally crafted beer. And if you’ve got a sweet tooth, don’t skip Ben & Jerry’s or the Beach Bakery Café!
Besides its boats and wildlife, Riverwalk Landing has other unique outdoor experiences like Segway tours (like Williamsburg, Yorktown is rich with history!), outdoor concerts, sailing lessons, and more!
Shopping in New Town
New Town is a beautiful, brand-new Williamsburg community that is home to over 170 restaurants, shops and businesses. Whether you’re looking for custom-made jewelry or the latest Apple accessory, New Town has it all.
No shopping experience is complete without a delicious lunch. Whether you crave authentic Mexican cuisine, brick oven pizza, or signature sandwiches, you have your choice of over a dozen restaurants. New Town also has a movie theatre, day spas, a fitness center and beautiful parks and walking trails.
Whether you only have an hour to spare of you’re gearing up for a whole day of credit card swiping, Williamsburg has everything you need to get your shopping done quickly so you can go back to what the holidays are really all about—spending time with family and loved ones. And there’s no place more central or welcoming to stay with your family than King’s Creek Plantation!
