Merchants Square
Some shopping destinations deserve a whole day set aside to be explored. Merchants Square on Duke of Gloucester Street in Williamsburg is a scenic, brick-lined pedestrian walkway with influences of Colonial architecture. This year marks its 90th birthday, and you can celebrate by visiting any of its 40 shops and restaurants! Find Colonial-inspired souvenirs, quaint candy stores, men’s and women’s fashion, fine jewelry stores, unique local art, charming bookstores, and more. When you need a shopping break, you can’t go wrong with any of its delicious dining spots! (We have big heart eyes for the Cheese Shop and the Fat Canary especially!)

Merchants Square is also the site of tons of fun events each week, including a farmers market, live music, plus annual traditions like the Christmas tree lighting and ice skatingClick here to see holiday happenings you can coincide with your shopping day!

Yorktown’s Riverwalk Landing
This is a truly spectacular waterfront village, and one of the Historic Triangle’s most lovely visual treasures. Located along the banks of the York River, this square mile of shopping and dining paradise boasts specialty shops, museums, art galleries and a wide variety of restaurants that cater to every palate. If you’re coming to shop for the day, you can expect home décor, custom jewelry, rare books, beach supplies and other unique items. If you’re coming for the food, there is no better place to score savory scallops and softshell crabs! Other than its terrific seafood, you can find brick oven pizzas, gourmet burgers and dozens of locally crafted beer. And if you’ve got a sweet tooth, don’t skip Ben & Jerry’s or the Beach Bakery Café!

Besides its boats and wildlife, Riverwalk Landing has other unique outdoor experiences like Segway tours (like Williamsburg, Yorktown is rich with history!), outdoor concerts, sailing lessons, and more!
