It’s Not Fall Without: Pumpkins

Slowly but surely, warm days are being replaced by warm sweaters! What is it about fall that makes us feel so giddy? Maybe it’s the cozy traditions that center around making memories with the ones we love. And, of course, because of pumpkins.

This fall, we’ll be sharing all the great seasonal traditions and where you can go to experience them. When it comes to pumpkin patches and corn mazes, Williamsburg has some great choices! Here is an updated list of our favorite spots to collect this staple of fall:

Bush Neck Farm

Williamsburg, Virginia

30 minutes from King’s Creek Plantation

Bush Neck Farm is celebrated for its diverse and delicious selection of fruits that guests love to pick! Many report that the blueberries and peaches fill their cars with a mouth-watering scent on the ride home! Doesn’t that sound fantastic?

This October, Bush Neck will open their gourd and pumpkin patch to the public. The owners are known for being lovely and welcoming and are especially great with little ones. Guests also love the friendly pups that greet you before you head off to explore a large variety of beautiful pumpkins and gourds.

Pumpkinville Farm

Toano, Virginia

20 minutes from King’s Creek Plantation

Pumpkinville Farm is a seasonal treasure that offers families tons of fall fun and Halloween goodies! Their pumpkin patch offers a large selection of gourds and pumpkins, and you can also grab some festive autumn decorations from the store, like flowers, hay bales and cornstalk bundles. Hop on the free hayride that runs the perimeter of the field, make your way through a corn maze and play games like the beanbag toss and ring toss.

College Run Farms

Surry, Virginia

55 minutes from King’s Creek Plantation (includes a ferry)

If you’re willing to drive just a bit further, the rewards are great. Starting on October 1, College Run Farms is open for business, and they suggest that pumpkin pickers come early in the season to get the best pumpkins! Cut them right off the vine, collect mini pumpkins for 50 cents or impress your trick-or-treaters with $25 giants! After you work up a sweat gathering your front porch fall swag, enjoy a scoop of College Run’s homemade pumpkin or vanilla ice cream. They also have a super fun 4-acre corn maze the whole family can enjoy. Keep in mind that this business only accepts payment in the form of cash or check, so be prepared before you go! You won’t want to miss any of their amazing autumn treats.

Green Hand Farm Park

Gloucester, Virginia

30 minutes from King’s Creek Plantation

It’s called a Green Hand Farm PARK for a reason! Every fall, this farm goes all out for a super entertaining pumpkin picking experience. The scenic 16-acre pumpkin patch includes a free hayride from the farm to the pumpkin patch, an eight-acre giant corn maze with crazy cool challenges, a one-acre mini corn maze for little ones, a yummy BBQ stand, a 100-foot long Jumbo Jumper, water bottle blasters and more! This year’s corn maze theme is Wizard of Oz, and Green Hand will be hosting “Flashlight Nights” where visitors can try the corn maze at night with flashlights! Sounds spooky, but also fun!

So go forth and pick, carve, or bake! We wish you a very happy and memory-filled #fall2018!
